Experience
Stefan Mathys has many years of experience in strategic communication, media relations and advising companies and executives in demanding communication situations. A particular focus of his work is crisis communication and litigation PR.
Before joining IRF in 2012, he worked as an independent communications consultant in a small consulting boutique and led mandates in corporate communications, media relations, publishing and event communication. Prior to that, he spent nine years in a senior role at KPMG in Switzerland, where he headed Public Relations and Public Affairs. In that role, he managed media relations, reputation management and public affairs activities, and supported international communications projects at the European headquarters.
During his studies in business administration and media studies, Stefan Mathys worked as a financial journalist for renowned Swiss business newspapers. Alongside his consulting work, he was also active in education and training, including as a lecturer and examination expert at the Institute of Communication and Marketing at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In addition, he was a member of the board of the Swiss Public Affairs Society (SPAG) in Bern for eight years.
In his free time, he spends a great deal of time in and on the water pursuing various water sports and is strongly involved in Zurich’s guild traditions.
